Brennan poised for Dubs after quitting Louth job

GER Brennan moved into pole position to replace Dessie Farrell as Dublin boss after stepping down as Louth manager last night.

Brennan was the bookies early favourite to replace Farrell, with Declan Darcy also high up in the betting.

The speed of Brennan's departure is still surprising and means he will inevitably be linked to the vacant post in his native county.

It is unclear if six-time All-Ireland winning manager Jim Gavin has any interest in returning to the post, or if Brennan's St. Vincent’s teammate Pat Gilroy, who worked with Farrell, is keen on the job, although this looks unlikely.

Farrell resigned at the weekend, after Dublin's All-Ireland quarter-final defeat by Tyrone, having led the county to Sam Maguire titles in 2020 and 2023.
