Binning ultra processed foods is the weigh to go

AVOIDING ultra processed foods can help people to shed weight.

A first ever clinical trial has shown foods like ready meals are worse for us even if they contain the same amount of sugar, salt and fat as whole foods.

The trial, led by TV doctor Chris van Tulleken, put people on a diet consisting of only UPFs such as sausages, sliced supermarket bread and cheap yoghurts.

They were then switched on to a diet of minimally processed foods including porridge oats and home-cooked spaghetti bolognese.
