TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD has called it “easily the hardest decision” he has made in his life.

Fair enough. It is also the most lucrative decision he has ever made.

For all the talk of a new challenge, the imminent five-year contract with Real Madrid is an absolute barnstorming piece of personal business for Trent and his advisers.

Never mind any emotional turmoil at leaving a club where he has been for most of his life, this is a beauty of a deal for a 26-year-old full-back who divides opinion and has won only 33 international caps in his career.
