RTE doc goes behind the hoarding

- SEAN MURPHY

A NEW documentary is looking behind the country's construction hoarding to meet the real-life builders, carpenters, electricians and other workers onsite.

The RTE show Who's Building Ireland?, which airs tomorrow, speaks to the people from all over the world who are working round the clock to solve the housing crisis.

A spokesperson for RTE said of the show: "Ireland needs 300,000 new homes by 2030, but who's actually building them?

"Who's Building Ireland? goes behind the hoardings to meet the real people constructing the nation's future.

"There are lots of interesting background stories, including one of the world's youngest female tower crane operators and a man who runs his construction company during the week and preaches at the weekend.

"Through these diverse voices, the programme reveals who's really building Ireland, one brick at a time.

"Many have left their countries behind to help build our country."

IGNORANCE

Lukas Suska — who founded Dublin-based company Roofing Cartel, which specialises in advanced waterproofing services said: "In Ireland, if you work your arse off, you can achieve everything that you want."
