Defender Auston backing new gaffer

- BY RYAN MCDONALD

AUSTON TRUSTY insists Wilfried Nancy has the steel to handle the enormous pressure that comes with being Celtic manager.

Nancy has endured a turbulent start to life at Parkhead after kicking off his reign with a nightmare 2-1 defeat to league leaders Hearts on Sunday.

The Frenchman has been ridiculed by some for pulling out a tactics board on the touchline as he shuffled his 3-4-3 formation.

But Trusty is adamant the new boss is more than equipped to block out the noise and rise above the early scrutiny.

He said: “Yeah, absolutely. I think they wouldn't have brought him here if he couldn't absorb the pressure.

“With things that have been said since the past result, we haven't heard one thing from him or it hasn't really affected him in any kind of way. So that's a good sign.

“I think winning solves it all, especially in this sport. Winning solves it all.

“It'll put us in the right direction, but also put him in the right direction in terms of the fans’ eyes who were maybe saying negative things about him. Again, winning solves everything.”
