FOOTBALL fans have raised more than €35,000 for a hero Irish supporter who bravely confronted a train knifeman with his bare hands.

- BY DAN WARBURTON

Stephen Crean, 61, was travelling home after his beloved Nottingham Forest's game with Man United when passengers on the train ran screaming past him.

The factory worker, an Irish citizen whose mother is from Co Dublin and whose father is from Co Roscommon, suffered six stab wounds after he chose to selflessly help others to safety before confronting the attacker.
