Ruben is proved right as fans go through the mill

RUBEN AMORIM said Manchester United and their fans would have to suffer to reach the Europa Leaque Final - and he was proved right.

The talk among the United supporters walking to Old Trafford last night was upbeat but understandably underpinned by a nagging feeling of uncertainty.

"I've already booked my flight to Bilbao," said one fan to another, who replied, "You're a brave man!" - the pair laughing nervously before going their separate ways.

When even United head coach Amorim (top) admitted he did not know which version of his side would turn up, such anxiety was entirely justified - even with their 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Spain.
