‘Disconnected' Trump's frantic speech

US PRESIDENT Donald Trump boasted about his economic record in a rambling speech despite millions of Americans struggling with soaring living costs.

The 79-year-old became increasingly frantic and was nearly shouting in the 18-minute live address to the nation.

The broadcast was part of an aggressive push to try to convince voters his policies are working amid affordability concerns ahead of midterm elections.

Mr Trump, wielding charts and figures some misleading - argued the US economy is "in better shape than many believe".
