NOTTS COUNTY have won their pitch battle against a rare fungal disease that threatened to KO the visit of Fleetwood.

Today's game had been in the balance after the rapidly spreading soil-based pathogen killed grass over large parts of the Meadow Lane playing surface.

County say the disease, which originates in continental Europe, has also affected other clubs as it has taken hold following the hot, humid summer, despite ‘robust preventative measures’.
