Minister is blasted over deportation

CHILDREN’S Minister Norma Foley has come under fire after saying that parents who have been denied asylum should leave the country before their children end up on deportation flights.

Gary Gannon of the Social Democrats told this paper the immigration system does not respect the “dignity of people” and Ms Foley should be “ashamed of any attempt to deny that reality”.

A flight carrying 35 people - 30 adults and five children — left Ireland for Nigeria on Wednesday.

The children removed were part of family units.
