Mare to make it smooth finish to year
LOSSIEMOUTH (2.32) can stake her Champion Hurdle claims with victory in today's featured Grade One December Hurdle on the final day of the Leopardstown Festival.
The Willie Mullins-trained mare took her Grade One tally to eight when capturing the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown last month.
She is likely to be aimed at the Champion Hurdle in March at Cheltenham rather than the Mares' race - a contest she won last season - with Mullins' former winner State Man on the injured list.
She fell on her last Leopardstown visit in February but has remained unbeaten since then with wins at Cheltenham and Aintree before that Morgiana triumph.
And she will be very hard to beat despite the concerns over stable form this Christmas.
Brighterdaysahead makes her return to the racecourse for the first time this season, a year on from winning this race by an astonishing 30 lengths.
