Boss alone in his thoughts as fans won’t sway decision on Pope axe

EDDIE HOWE has warned Newcastle fans he can't factor fan opinion into his selection process against Everton.

The Toon boss is under pressure to replace keeper Nick Pope with Aaron Ramsdale for the clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Pope dropped a clanger in Marseille when racing out of his goal to try to stop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who fired into the empty net from a tight angle.

The ex-Arsenal man then grabbed a superb second as Marseille came from behind to win and dent Toon's Champions League progress.

That moment of madness (right) sparked a host of calls from fans to change keeper at Everton this weekend, but Howe responded: "Of course, I respect the supporters' opinions, but, ultimately, I am paid to do the job.
