Treble winner DAVID MAY backs Amorim's get-tough stance with the United rebels who are 'disrespectful'

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ruben Amorim's hardline stance with his petulant stars has been backed to lead the club back to the glory days.

Amorim has banned five United players - Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia (circles, top to bottom) - from returning to the club for preseason training.

All five want to leave and Amorim does not want their negative influence around the squad. He has told them to stay away until United have left for their preseason tour of the US.

Amorim's ruthless approach has been backed by former United defender David May, who said he is right to get rid of players who put their own egos ahead of team interests.

"This manager is perfect for the club," said May (with Mirror man McDonnell, bottom), who won the Treble with United in 1999. "I like what he does, how he speaks, and the club is in good hands.

"It's just the players and the mentality of some of them, who simply have to leave.
