Vernon Kay reveals which celebrities he'd love to see on his new game show and why he won't be hosting in a suit

Vernon Kay is on a high. A career high. His Radio 2 mid-morning show has just been named the most listened-to in the UK, he’s a regular host of The One Show and he’s now at the helm of a new BBC Two quiz.

On top of that, he has brand endorsements with M&S, Lego, Nobu and Parkdean Resorts. It's a lot of work, but Vernon has bills to pay.

“We've just had a new conservatory and underfloor heating and it was goddamn expensive,” laughs Vernon. “I'm absolutely loving being on Radio 2. It feels like I'm broadcasting to a bunch of mates.”

Having the most popular radio show in the country is a huge achievement, but Vernon, 51, is typically modest.

“It's always a nice compliment to remain employed,” he grins.

“That's the truth.”

Now, Vernon has joined forces with The Traitors star Paul Gorton to launch Do You Know Your Place?. In each episode, Vernon puts his three celebrity guests’ knowledge of the UK to the test, while Paul acts as an unreliable tour guide who heads to a different town or city in each episode and then sets questions for the celebrities about each place. The challenge for the stars is to separate fact from fiction.
