Creche standoff that lasted hours ends peacefully as gardai seize limitation firearm

GARDAI have arrested a man and seized an imitation firearm after a tense standoff at a creche yesterday.

Sources told this paper that the siege in Navan, Co Meath, lasted several hours and was finally brought to an end when armed members of the Emergency Response Unit confronted the man in the garden of the property.

We also understand that a replica double-barrelled shotgun was seized in the incident.
