CONNOR BARRON has backed Rangers to get stronger and stronger now that frontman Youssef Chermiti has found his scoring boots.

- BY ANDY NEWPORT

The £8million man has faced a wave of criticism this season having failed to live up to his big-money billing after signing from Everton.

But the 21-year-old Portuguese ace finally delivered with a stunning double (above, his second) in Gers’ 3-1 Old Firm win at Parkhead.

The triumph moves Danny Rohl's side level with Celtic and six behind Premiership leaders Hearts going into tomorrow's Ibrox clash with Aberdeen.

And Barron believes his whole side can take a boost from Chermiti's weekend heroics. The midfield man (right) said:"He took his two goals brilliantly. It was massive for the big man.

“He works his socks off every week. It was great to see him just get that break in front of goal that he’s been looking for.

“He'll gain massive confidence from it and it's good to see.
