THE sixth and penultimate Oasis album sold almost 240,000 copies in its first week of release and went triple platinum in early 2006 with over 900,000 sales.

"Pretty good" reflected Noel Gallagher in 2023.

It could have been a different album, away from the standard, as they scrapped early recordings done at Cornwall's Sawmills Studios with Death in Vegas, musicians and producers, to steer back onto the Oasis road.

Noel said: "Towards the end, I said to Gem and Andy there was no point in being here and making a record and put it out because in six months we wouldn't be able to even listen to it."

So they went from Cornwall to Los Angeles to get the album in place at the iconic Capitol Studios situated off Hollywood Boulevard. A building where the Rat Pack legends had all been over time.

Archer said: "We spent two months in the basement, collated all the ideas. Some ideas flew down, some were harder to get there. Everyone who has ever been in a band understands that."

Noel added: "There was a conscious effort not to do as many guitar solos as we just got sick of trying to be John Squire, which none of us are.
