O'Brien's colt can take Ulster Derby

DROPPING from listed company, Acapulco Bay might be capable of defying top-weight in the €100,000 BoyleSports Ulster Derby in Down Royal.

Aidan O'Brien has won this traditional feature of Down Royal's flat programme twice in the last four years. And, in Acapulco Bay, he has a worthy contender to annex the 2025 renewal.

Runner-up to classy stable-companion Delacroix on his debut at the Curragh last August, the Dubawi colt duly opened his account three weeks later when justifying 2/11 favouritism in a one-mile Curragh maiden.

This season, he has run three times, apparently needing the run and struggling in soft to heavy ground when chasing home another Ballydoyle colt Trinity College in his comeback run at Naas in last March.
