THE NFL came to town last week and made history when they played American football in Croke Park.

But the real spectacle was the bonkers hysterics from certain quarters over a ball game played in a stadium.

What was that all about?

If you support foreign games being played in Croke Park, you can't decide the Americans are baddies and need to be excluded from that list.

Permission to play Croker does not involve a purity test, which is lucky, because no-one would pass it, if you dug deep enough.

When the Americans landed and added colour and life to the city, lots of us chose to enjoy having them over.

A constant parade of them passed my door, where I live beside the Guinness storehouse and every pub was packed. They spilled out onto the streets around Grafton Street and were friendly, gracious and fun.
