>> Irishman tells of run for life as the carnage began >> Gardai to boost patrols of Jewish centres & events
A YOUNG Irishman who was in a bar on Bondi Beach when the first shots rang out yesterday told how everyone scrambled for their lives as the carnage began.
Josh Campbell, from Greystones, Co Wicklow, was having drinks in Revesis Bar when he said it appeared all hell broke out.
He said they could hear the shots ring out as pandemonium broke out in the pub when punters knocked over tables and chairs as they ducked for cover.
Electrician Josh, who has been in Australia for six years, told this newspaper he's still trying to take in what happened.
He said: "We were in Revesis bar which is just a few minutes walk from where the shooters were.
Josh said the terrified bar staff locked the doors fearing the gunmen would try to get in.
He added: "We were locked in and all we could hear was these gunshots and didn't know where they were coming from.
"We then went upstairs and all the time we could still hear the shooting, it went on for at least seven or eight minutes.
"It was scary because we didn't know what was happening.
"After about 20 minutes we were told we could leave if we wanted but we didn't know what to do but thought it best to get out of a boozer with glass doors and walls.
