High School Musical & Hannah Montana take mind off Asha's battles

After heavy Corrie lines I cheer up with Disney

EARLY DAYS Tanisha in 2013

After filming some harrowing scenes on Coronation Street, Tanisha Gorey has found the perfect way to relax - chilling on the sofa with a Disney movie.

Tanisha's character, Asha Alahan, has been battling depression and anxiety on the ITV soap, and things come to a head next week when she is taken to hospital after a suicide attempt.

"It's been weeks and weeks of 12-hour days, being sad and depressed and crying," Tanisha says.

"Sometimes it gets in your head and I really noticed that I was bringing it home with me.

"Because I was learning lines for the next day, there wasn't a turnoff or escape from it.

"It is heavy, so my boyfriend pulls me out of it.

"He'll say: 'Let's watch something a bit lighthearted tonight.'

"I'm really embarrassed to admit it, but I'm a Disney channel girl, so two of the films I had to put on to cheer myself up were Hannah Montana: The Movie and High School Musical. Anything that's light that reminds me of childhood and takes my mind off work."

Tanisha, 23, says her partner Lucas Whelan is even happy to watch the films with her.

"He's great," she smiles. "He's very supportive and very giving; he's the most perfect person in my life.

"When I get home at 8 o'clock, my tea is cooked, the house is clean and the washing's been done. He's really supportive."
