Garda chief: 91 officers are facing disciplinary action

ONE in ten of all suspended gardai are rookies, the new commissioner has revealed.

Justin Kelly, who is a month into the job, said that of the 100 officers on suspension, 10 of them are probationers.

He also told the Policing and Community Safety Authority that 91 males and nine females are facing disciplinary action.

As well as 10 probationers, three sergeants and 77 gardai-including 11 detectives-are also suspended, as is one reservist.

Some 11 officers are suspended for alleged coercive control or domestic violence, and a further 11 are under investigation for alleged sexual violence or sexual misconduct.
