This exciting new _ initiative, inspired by global cake picnic events, welcomes cake lovers and bakers alike to come together in a delightful fusion of flavour, creativity, and connection.

At just 29, Khumalo, who runs a boutique bakery and café in Durban’s vibrant Florida Road, said she is thrilled to celebrate cake culture in such a fun and creative way.

“I’ve been craving an event like this in Durban, and I’m sure many others have, too. I expect it to be a joyful gathering where Durban comes together to celebrate creativity, flavour, and connection... and hopefully discover exciting new local talent through the competition winners,” she said.

As one of the judges, Khumalo said she will be focusing on presentation, originality and taste.

“A good bake should balance flavour with creativity,” she said.
