SELLES HAILS HUGE WIN
Hull Daily Mail
|April 22, 2025
RUBEN Selles praised the comeback which saw Hull City roar back from a goal down at half-time to beat Preston 2-1, and give their hopes of survival a major boost.
City fell behind 10 minutes before the break when Lewis Gibson turned in, but Selles’ side responded brilliantly in the second half.
The Tigers were awarded a penalty five minutes into it when Joe Gelhardt appeared to be caught by Mads Frokjaer and he stepped up and slotted home, and shortly after, Kyle Joseph was felled by Stefán Þórðarson.
Gelhardt made no mistake and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and bar a couple of nervy moments, City eased a victory that keeps them two points above the drop zone with two games to play. City know victory over Derby on Saturday will keep them in the Championship, and a point may even be enough, depending on how Luton fare against Coventry in the early kick-off.
“I think the three points were massive and the way that we did it was actually massive,” Selles told the Mail.
