SALFORD Red Devils' owners have insisted that the struggling Super League club will be able to finish the season.

- By DAN TOMLINSON

The owners met with Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and Mayor of Salford Paul Dennett on Friday and gave assurances that the season will be completed and the club will survive beyond next week's HMRC meeting.

Salford have a court date on Wednesday, September 3, with mounting debts set to be collected amid a bridging loan, which the owners said should arrive before the end of August.

That bridging loan will cover August's payroll as well as provide the club with the stability it needs to complete the season.

The Red Devils were forced to cancel a recent Super League match with Wakefield Trinity due to 'player welfare concerns', a match the Yorkshire club has since been awarded 48-0.
