Packed house for opening night of Ghost The Musical

WHEN you've loved a film for 35 years, known the plot inside out and cherished the characters, you do wonder how things are going to go when someone has the idea of translating it to theatre and whether you'll actually enjoy watching it interpreted live.

I'd not long since rewatched for the umpteenth time, Ghost, the double Academy Award-winning movie starring the late Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, when news broke of Ghost The Musical coming to Hull.

And there's another thing, bringing song and dance into a suspense thriller?

I needn't have worried, there was nothing to spoil my enduring attachment to the classic film; just a different version to also take to my heart.

It was a packed house for opening night at Hull New Theatre and you could feel the buzz of anticipation.

For the uninitiated (and those who don't own a much-played DVD), the story is about couple Sam Wheat and Molly Jensen who, walking back to their Brooklyn apartment late at night, encounter gunman Willie Lopez.
