Opportunities by being in EU were priceless

I AGREE with your correspondent Peter Auty (October 18) that no one can prove that Brexit has been a success but disagree that we can’t prove that it has been a failure.

Even its architect, Mr Farage, has admitted that it hasn’t gone to plan.

The Brexit vote was hardly resounding. ‘Leave’ won, obviously, but less than 40 per cent of eligible voters were sufficiently moved to cast a positive vote for ‘Leave’ Fewer cast a positive vote for ‘Remain’ but it’s likely that nonvoters were content with the status quo.

Mr Auty correctly states that the UK needs stability. Nothing made the UK more unstable than Brexit.
