Luke Campbell formally takes office as mayor

FORMER BOXER OFFICIALLY STARTS HEADING UP ROLE

LUKE Campbell has officially taken office as the first mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire following his election victory.

Reform UK's candidate, Mr Campbell, won the region's first ever mayoral election held on May 1, securing 35.82 per cent of the vote.

The former Olympic gold medallist boxer yesterday signed the Mayoral Declaration of Acceptance of Office to officially start his role heading up the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA).

The mayor assumes control over devolved powers and will be the lead figure responsible for an investment fund worth £400m over the next 30 years.
