Lam discusses links to PNG NRL franchise

ADRIAN Lam has responded to reports linking him with the NRL's new Papua New Guinea franchise and has stated that they were 'always going to be the case'.

Lam is a PNG icon after a lucrative playing and coaching career - where he coached the Kumuls on two separate occasions.

However, he has reaffirmed his love for his current role with the Leopards, who he won the Challenge Cup with back in 2023.

But that hasn't stopped speculation of the 54-year-old being in the running for the new NRL franchise, which will enter the competition as its 19th team in 2028 - one year after Perth Bears’ inaugural season.

The PNG team will begin its search for a head coach soon, with Lam understood to be headhunted. He has been referenced already by Australian media.
