Donald giving no guarantees for Ryder Cup

Several hours after limping through the ‘Green Mile’ to end his US PGA Championship on a disappointing note, Luke Donald watched two prospective members of his Ryder Cup team suffer the same fate.

Yet Europe's captain will have otherwise been highly encouraged by the performances of Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick at Quail Hollow as the build-up continues to his team’s title defence at Bethpage in September.

Rahm and Fitzpatrick were part of Donald's side when Europe regained the Ryder Cup in Rome in 2023, but both would have been giving the former world number one cause for concern before the year's second major.
