WIGAN Warriors boss Matt Peet admitted Bevan French "exceeded expectations" following his stunning return to action after a lengthy calf injury.

The 2023 Man of Steel winner made an immediate impact, helping inspire Wigan to a dominant 44-2 triumph over Wakefield at the Brick Community Stadium.

French assisted the game's opening try for fellow Australian Adam Keighran, threading through a grubber kick that the hard-hitting centre chased down and battled his way over the line to score.
