Set Self Afire After Stress Due To Police Cases Against Him

The 26-year-old man who set himself on fire near Parliament on Wednesday told Delhi Police that he planned to die by suicide because he was under pressure due to three police cases lodged against him in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, officers said on Thursday.

The man is currently undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after he suffered more than 95% burn injuries, and his condition is said to be critical, doctors said.
Police said that the man had brought the petrol — which he used to set himself ablaze — in a bottle from his home in Baghpat.
