Pelosi blames Biden for Dems' defeat to Trump

Former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has attributed Democrats' loss largely to President Joe Biden's delayed decision to exit the race.

Speaking on The Interview, a podcast by The New York Times, Pelosi suggested that Biden's last-minute exit significantly limited the party's options, ultimately affecting Vice President Kamala Harris's ability to succeed in her bid against Donald Trump.

"If the president had stepped aside sooner, other Democratic candidates could have joined the race, leading to an open primary," Pelosi stated.

"Kamala might have performed well in a primary and emerged stronger. But once the president backed Kamala immediately after stepping down, it was too late for that."

Pelosi's candid comments come as Democrats analyze the factors behind Harris's defeat and Trump's unexpected return to the presidency.
