With the arrival of festive and wedding seasons, a swipe of red can help you up the style game. To dispel all apprehensions about wearing a scarlet shade, experts dole out tips for a smooth application.

Makeup artist Shikha Mishra says, "It's important to use a lip primer first. After applying, dab your lips with a setting powder and use a lip liner or a pencil in a similar or complementary colour. This will ensure your red lipstick doesn't fade away as the day progresses."

Meanwhile, beauty influencer Trupti Tahiliani believes that the lipstick will show its true colours when it has a flawless base: "Prep your lips by exfoliating and hydrating them. This will ensure that they don't crease or flake, especially with darker shades."
