IMD issues orange alert for dense fog

Cold, northwesterly winds led to Delhi recording a sharp drop in the minimum temperature on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The dip in temperature led to the visibility dropping to zero at two separate times of the morning adversely affecting flight and rail operations.

The mercury is likely to dip further on Thursday and Friday, and the Met department has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog for these days. IMD has also forecast light rain in parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) over the weekend.
