FRANCE GROUNDS PLANE HEADED TO NICARAGUA WITH INDIANS ON BOARD

French authorities grounded a flight from the United Arab Emirates to Nicaragua with 303 passengers, mostly of Indian origin, after receiving a tip that it could be carrying victims of human trafficking, French and Indian officials said on Friday.

The Indian embassy in France confirmed the situation and said that its team had reached the location and "obtained consular access". The plane was grounded on Thursday and those on board had been moved to the airport, which French officials said had been cordoned off.
"French authorities informed us of a plane w/ 303 people, mostly Indian origin, from Dubai to Nicaragua detained on a technical halt at a French airport.
Embassy team has reached & obtained consular access. We are investigating the situation, also ensuring well-being of passengers," the embassy said in a post on X.
