Sexual harassment cases cannot be quashed on the basis of a compromise between two parties, the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday, as it set aside a Rajasthan high court order dismissing a case after the accused and the survivor agreed upon a compromise.

A bench of justices CT Ravikumar and Sanjay Kumar gave the verdict after hearing a case involving the high court's decision to quash a first information (FIR) against a teacher, who was accused of sexually harassing a 16-year-old at a school in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan.
