113 Years of History Will Soon Be One Click Away as Delhi Assembly Archive Goes Fully Digital

The Delhi Assembly is set to digitize and preserve over a century's worth of historical documents — including records from the pre-Independence era when the Assembly building functioned as the seat of the Imperial Legislative Council.

NEW DELHI: Among the landmark legislations passed here was the infamous Rowlatt Act of 1919, which allowed indefinite detention without trial.

Announcing the initiative on Thursday, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said the project aims to make these invaluable records publicly accessible through a comprehensive e-library. "The Assembly holds a unique place in India's legislative history. Our objective is to preserve its legacy so that the people can explore it anytime through a digitized platform," he said after a meeting with senior officials, including those from the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the NITI Aayog's Library Directorate.
