AGRA: The Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation has passed a proposal amid protests from the opposition to construct a corridor around the Thakur Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.

The proposal was approved orally during a meeting of the municipal body held at a private hotel on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Vinod Agarwal and attended by municipal commissioner Jagpravesh and most of the corporators.

"Most of the corporators, including those from the opposition, were present at the meeting. The proposal was moved in support of the Banke Bihari corridor in Vrindavan and discussions were held according to the procedure," the mayor said.
