3 held for Bengal gang rape, row over CM reax

Three people were arrested on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a student of a private medical college in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, police said even as chief minister Mamata Banerjee kicked off row with her remark that girls should not be allowed to go outside the campus at night.

Police have also detained another person suspecting his role in the incident, officers aware of the case said.

The police were yet to disclose the identities of the three arrested accused. “We arrested three persons in connection with the case this morning. They are being questioned. This is a very sensitive case and we will give out further details later,” a police officer said.
