UP House bans pan masala, gutkha after spitting row

Uttar Pradesh assembly speaker Satish Mahana on Wednesday announced a ban on gutkha and pan masala within the Vidhan Sabha premises, a day after it came to light that a legislator spat pan masala on the floor of the House.
LUCKNOW:
Besides the ban with immediate effect, a fine of ₹1,000 will also be imposed on violators, Mahana said.
After the Question Hour on Wednesday, Mahana said, "With immediate effect, the use of pan masala and gutkha is banned inside the assembly premises. Anyone, including employees and officials found consuming gutkha or pan masala within the assembly premises will be fined ₹1,000. Necessary action will be taken in accordance with the rules."
