Tribals protest ramp near Sarna Sthal, break barricades

Members of different tribal communities damaged three barricades put up to stop them from going to Sirom Toli Sarna Sthal, where they had planned to stage a demonstration against the delay in removing the ramp of the flyover in front of their Sarna Sthal, officials familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

RANCHI: Members of different tribal communities damaged three barricades put up to stop them from going to Sirom Toli Sarna Sthal, where they had planned to stage a demonstration against the delay in removing the ramp of the flyover in front of their Sarna Sthal, officials familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon when they penetrated the security cover of the district armed police and the Rapid Armed Force (RAF), which then took action. The demonstration was being organised under the aegis of Adivasi Vikas Parishad (AVP) and Akhil Bhartiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad (ABVKP), with other tribal organisations.
