JMM to push for 'Greater Jharkhand', nat'l party status

Expanding the party's national footprint and renewing the demand for 'Greater Jharkhand' are set to top the agenda at the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's (JMM) 13th national convention, scheduled to be held on April 14 and 15 in Ranchi, insiders said on Saturday.

Preparations for the two-day meet are underway, with party leaders holding a series of meetings ahead of the event, which will be attended by delegates from Jharkhand and the neighbouring states, including West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar, people aware of the development said.

As part of the preparations, the political resolutions committee, headed by veteran Stephen Marandi, met at his official residence in the state capital on Friday and discussed key political resolutions likely to be adopted at the national convention, which is organised every three years.
