Construction Firm Loses Contract Over Project Delays
Hindustan Times Ranchi
|April 20, 2025
Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Ltd (BRPNN) has decided to terminate the contract of a Chhattisgarh-based construction company for failing to complete the Panduka bridge over the Sone River in Rohtas district within the stipulated timeline, officials said.
SASARAM:
BRPNN managing director Jitendra Kumar said that the agency had completed only 40% of the work by the deadline set for 2024. Citing negligence and prolonged delay in the ambitious project, the BRPNN has initiated proceedings for contract termination, blacklisting of the firm, and forfeiture of its security deposit. The bridge will now be completed through a re-tendering process, he added.
According to Kumar, construction came to a standstill in May-June 2024 after a crack was detected in one of the bridge's pillars.

Why courts need to be compassionate to strays
It is quite the irony that while Aloka— the Indian stray dog adopted by a band of Buddhists monks —is being cheered worldwide for walking thousands of miles in the US alongside the monks in their march for global peace, his counterparts in India are being subjected to cruelty by the very institutions that should protect them.
