Army jawan, thrashed, jailed by cops, gets bail

A Jamshedpur court on Tuesday granted bail to army personnel Suraj Rai and his cousin Vijay Rai, who were allegedly beaten up and sent to jail by some police personnel and private driver of a police vehicle of Jugsalai police station (PS), people close to the development said on Tuesday.
JAMSHEDPUR:
"The court of the first class judicial magistrate Surendra Bedia granted bail to both army personnel Suraj Rai and his cousin brother Vijay Rai as the court found no evidence of injury necessary for the prosecution's main charge of attempt to murder under Section 109 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Both were granted bail on a bail bond of ₹10,200 each," Prakash Jha, senior advocate pleading for the accused brothers, told HT on Tuesday.
The case against Suraj Rai and Vijay Rai was registered on the basis of statement by Jugsalai PS sub inspector (SI) Dipak Mahato.
