Principal of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), an autonomous medical college of the Bihar government, has raised serious concerns about his safety and threatened to commit suicide, alleging 'humiliation and torture' at workplace, as per a purported letter to Bihar's health minister on February 19 that found its way to media houses on Sunday.
PATNA:
"My depression is getting so acute and intense that I sometimes feel to kick the bucket by committing suicide," said Dr Ranjit Guha, in his letter, seen by Hindustan Times, to health minister Mangal Pandey, in Hindi, and to ACS, health, Pratyaya Amrit, in English.
Dr Guha has drawn reference to institute director Dr Bindey Kumar designating another doctor as faculty in-charge.
"The principal, IGIMS, is faculty in-charge of medical college and there can't be another faculty in-charge, who otherwise will become another principal in addition to me," said Dr Guha in his letter.
