Villagers call off stir against tiger attacks in Ranthambore

A day after protests began in Sawai Madhopur over the death of a 70-year-old watchman by a tiger near Ranthambhore Fort, agriculture minister Kirodi Lal Meena assured the villagers of additional compensation to the family of the deceased and also urged the protesters to visit Jaipur for discussion with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

JAIPUR: Meanwhile, the cubs of tigress Arrowhead could not be traced.

The victim, Radheshyam Mali, who was a resident of Sherpur village and a guard at the Jain temple near the Trinetra Ganesh Mandir for nearly three decades, was attacked around 4:30 am when he stepped out to relieve himself. According to Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) field director Anoop KR, the body was recovered about 30 to 40 metres from the temple, following a trail of blood. In response, the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve administration has installed additional camera traps in the fort area to locate them.
