Probe finds Shein fails to meet OECD guidelines

Asian fast-fashion giant Shein is failing to respect the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD's) human rights and environmental guidelines for multinationals, a French probe found on Monday.

‘A 2023 complaint by two French MPs spurred an investigation into the company’s social, environmental and commercial practices by a special body charged with helping resolve disputes on whether companies abide by the body's voluntary guidelines.

The ruling follows allegations of environmental pollution and poor working conditions at the Chinese-founded firm, based in Singapore. It also comes as the European Union attempts to crack down on fast fashion.
