NGT SEEKS REPORT ON TOXIC MARBLE SLURRY DUMPING

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday expressed serious concern over the alleged unscientific and hazardous disposal of marble slurry at the Kishangarh dumping yard in Ajmer district, Rajasthan, and has sought a factual and action-taken report from a joint committee within six weeks.
Hearing an application filed by Drupad Malik, a bench of Justice Sheo Kumar Singh and Expert Member Dr. A. Senthil Vel took note of the grave environmental and health hazards arising from the large-scale dumping ata site spread over 82 acres, which receives more than 5,500 metric tonnes of slurry waste daily from over 1,200 marble processing units.
