CM asks officials to speed up relief op

Chief minister Bhajan lal Sharma on Wednesday directed officials to remain on high alert and speed up relief and rescue operations amid continuous heavy rainfall across the state while urging them to maintain sensitivity in waterlogged areas to prevent any loss of life.

“Due to ongoing rainfall, most dams, rivers, ponds, and reservoirs in the state are filled to capacity. The officials must monitor water levels regularly, identify flood-prone and low-lying areas, deploy personnel, and ensure continuous surveillance. Warning signs should be installed wherever necessary to prevent any accidents,” Sharma said while chairing a disaster relief management meeting.

He directed officials to keep SDRF, Civil Defence, and Home Guard teams on alert with adequate resources in vulnerable areas. “Public movement should be restricted in such locations, and vehicle movement at flooded crossings should be halted by setting up temporary check-posts,” he said.
